My dear Henry
You have a lovely day for your journey & the plants will be put in by this time – as mine received last night from Bridgend 1 (not in such fresh condition) are here. Botany is active in May. This morning to my surprise I got a civil letter from Mr Berkeley the Fungologist of Northamptonsh with seeds of Silene bipartita Desp: from Malta – do you know it?
Lacock must be looking nice I grudge not being at Abbotsbury 2 such a blue day as this. Every thing seems visibly growing.
You will find Spring greatly advanced about Edinburgh – If ever you visit Hopetoun 3 ask to see the dwarf Cembra pine the curiosity of the place.
My love to all at the Tower 4 –
