My dear Henry
We received a nice box of grapes yesterday, very ripe & yet quite firm – They were well & carefully packed and were only 2 days on the road – We enjoy them very much. – Your letters to Rosamond & to Ela 3 were very acceptable after your long silence – and they send their love & thanks for them. – The fine day you had last week – (Tuesday) was equally beautiful here – but it is the only one we have seen for a long time. Poor Mlle Amélina 4 is suffering from a severe fit of tooth ache – She supposes she must have caught cold – but it is quite an epidemic just now hereabouts. It is about a week since it began – and was better for 2 days – but last night it returned very severely. It is almost always worse at night, & keeps her awake – and she now feels quite weak & miserable from the effects of it. It is particularly unfortunate just now, when she was getting better of her other troubles: but of course the application of hot poultices & the effect of acute pain has made her head much worse. – Mr Fell 5 continues to see her occasionally & is very judicious. – Rosamond is such a dear good affectionate creature – and is the greatest comfort to Mlle A in this <illegible deletion> tedious time –
We were much interested by the Heraldic letter which you sent us yesterday. Such a Pedigree would be very agreeable to possess –
I have no news for you except that we have good accounts from Matilda 6 whose visit at Drumlanrig was to extend from Friday to Monday. And a lively missive was received yesterday from Charles 7 –
Yours affectionate
Constance.
