I will write to the Assis^t Sec^y of the R Soc^y to offer my name to the testimonials in your favour, in case I am prevented from doing so personally before the day of Election-² I thank you for the Card of Admission to the lectures³ and am very grateful to hear that 50 Copies of my paper were sent to the Athenæum Club, I will cause immediate enquiries to be made to know what has become of them⁴

As it appears that D^r Woods's Communication did not reach the Editor of the Athenæum, I enclose the copy of it which he sent me, & which I request you to return.⁵
