Lacock Abbey
July 28th
My dear Henry
I received your letter this morning with £5 enclosed for Wilkins – I hoped to have told you also that your Rock Plants were arrived from Bristol – but although Wilkins had a letter advising him of their being sent off last night, they were not found on enquiry either at Chippenham or Corsham – no doubt they will be here tomorrow – for he says it is a very common thing for Nurserymen’s packages to be a day behind time – probably from their man neglecting to ascertain the hour of the train orders –
Your will have felt more happy today since the great change of temperature. We think it is almost cold – at any rate it was a wonderful contrast to the oppressive thundery heat of Tuesday and Wednesday –
You affectionate
Constance.
Do you mean to make a long stay in London? – I ask, in case Caroline or any relations should propose a visit. –
