Dear Sir
A short absence from town is the cause of my not having answered your letter of 2 days since, in which you decline the Presidency of the Brit: Assocn in 1869.
I have written to Mr Grove & will write to Prof. Hirst to say I have heard from you. so pray do not take further trouble about the missing letters.
I remain faithfully <yrs?>
Francis Galton
