I am glad you went to see the great Coil ¹ at the Polytechnic. ² Perhaps you have not read the account of it given in the Times which I enclose. I recommend you to attend Prof^r Tyndall’s ³ lectures at the R. Inst^{n. 4} on Light at 3 oclock PM – Nine Lectures the first will be tomorrow, then every Thursday till June 3.

Geikie gives 3 lectures on Geology April 10 . 17 . 24. Saturdays.

I found Stone’s Justice of the Peace ⁵ which I will bring. Mr Awdry ⁶ says he never knew anybody fined for non attendance on the grand jury: but sometimes on special juries. The weather yesterday and today very mild quite spring like. The School ⁷ is about to be begun [sic] – The contract with Gale ⁸ has been signed.
