<on mourning paper with crest>

January 9^th 1870

My dear M^r Talbot,

Could you lend me Humbolt’s Cosmos if you have got it?

I was at Clifton yesterday and found my mother much the same; Johnny’s children are coming to spend a week at Clifton, so she will be surrounded with grandchildren –

Yours truly

Edward P. Nicholl
