My dear Papa
Many thanks for your two letters – We were sorry you had so perplexing a journey, but, however you take it, Bournemouth seems to be not an easy place to reach. How do you mean to come back? I hope Mama will find the improvement in her health even more marked after her return, as very often happens; and if the sea water has done her feet good, we have plenty of sea-salt now to fall back upon.
“McBean” arrived most successfully on Saturday – every item correct; the only thing we have yet tried is the Orange Marmalade, which I think Ela will greatly approve.
The weather continues unsettled; storms every day, and the nights almost frosty. Mamie is not well today, having had a sort of bilious attack in the night, We summoned Mr Crisp, who said these cases were very prevalent just now – She has been in bed all day but seems more comfortable this evening – Charles is looking wonderfully well, I think; the sea-air certainly agrees with him.
I hope you have received the Times safely.
With love to Mama and Ela, I am your most affect daughter
Rosamond
