My dear Henry
I have today heard from Harriot,1 who with Mr Mundy2 wishes me to send you a copy of some Verses which I have lately had reprinted,3 & which have met with their approbation as well as others. Nothing pleases me better than to ask your acceptance of a Copy, but it is so long since we have met, that perhaps I should not have screwed up my courage to send you one, but for their naming it. Two good judges C. Mount Edgecumbe [sic]4 & Sophy Hylton5 have gratified me very much by their earnest approval, & I shall be very glad of yours; but I hope you have not forgotten me so much as to think I want pretty speeches if they are not to your mind, nor do I think you would waste your time in making them. They were written many years ago as you will perceive, & I then showed them to poor Sir Charles Lemon,6 who greatly approved of them, & tried to get them into an Annual, but Annuals said they only took their own fashionables, so I let them remain in obscurity until lately an accident made me reprint them, & show them to my friends.
