Sir,

In reply to you letter of the 15th Inst.2 I beg leave to state that it is my wish to have the honor of belonging to the new Club for cultivators and patrons of science &c.3 and I request that my name may be placed on the list of original members4.

That is the Athenaeum.
Dartmouth is listed as an original member of the Athenaeum in Waugh [1894], 38.
