C’est pour me Rappeller a votre Souvenir que j’ai l’honneur de vous adresser une notice sur les Machines a Vapeur1. C’est dans les ouvrages de votre pays que j’ai puisé les renseignemens qui me paraissent les plus authentiques; vous y verrez, j’espere, la ferme intention de ne dire que la vérité - ayez la bonté d’offrir les exemplaires joints au votre 1° a l’institution Royale; 2° a la Société Royale; 3° a Mr Millington, 4° a Mr Barlow de Woolwich; au Docteurs Gregory et Christie2 de Woolwich.

It is in the works of your country that I sought the information that seems to me to be the most authentic; you will see, I hope, the firm intention to tell only the truth - please have the kindness to offer the copies attached to yours 1st to the Royal Institution; 2nd to the Royal Society; 3rd to Mr. Millington; 4th to Mr. Barlow at Woolwich; to Doctors Gregory and Christie4 of Woolwich.
