Faraday to Edwin Atherstone   29 April 1831

Royal Institution | April 29, 1831

My dear Sir

I write in great haste & therefore shortly in answer to yours. Montgomery1 is now lecturing on Poetry here he began last Tuesday2 & will continue on the next five Tuesdays3. I do not think it necessary therefore to mention the matter to the Managers because it could not be arranged this Season & I do not know that you would wish it talked of without. I am sorry that we are prevented by circumstances from considering your offer. I should have much enjoyed hearing you in this place4.

I hope your courses will be agreeable to yourself & that next time I see you I shall hear you express your satisfaction at the results.

I am dear Sir | Most faithfully Yours | M. Faraday

Edwin Atherston Esq | &c &c
