Royal Institution London | June 2nd 1831
Sir
I have received your letter2 and the honor which accompanied it and hasten to express the very high gratification they afforded me and my sincere and hearty gratitude for them[.] These feelings I beg you to communicate to the Imperial Academy of Sciences of Petersburgh with every respect on my part and I assure you I could not have a stronger inducement to continue exertions however ineffectual which have already obtained for me such high distinction[.]
Accept my sincere thanks also yourself Sir for the very kind and agreeable manner in which you have conveyed the Diploma[.] I have been searching for some other means of transmitting my acknowledgements but failing to find them and anxious not to cause delay I avail myself of the Post[.]
Believe me | Sir | Your Most Obliged & Obedient Servant | M. Faraday
