My dear Sir
Your letter I received and have acted upon with respect to lecturing next year[.] I have brought it before the board & it remains for consideration for next season1 - but remind me of it about November or December[.]
Now for the birds[.] I have shewn your last to Mr Vigors2 & the Zoological Society & it has been in the hands of several individuals[.]
A gentleman Mr. Gould3 wished to see them that he might consider prices upon them. He being a dealer in birds[.] But on taking your letter in his hands he was disappointed and sent me a note which I copy for you[,]
“Sir - I return your letter respecting the birds[.] I am sorry to say that my trouble has been in vain as the box has never been seen by the parties named in your letter[.] It appears to have been seized by the customs and unless a regular entry is made and the expences paid it is not possible to see them[.] I beg to remain Your Most Obedient Servant J. Gould”[.]
I am anxious to let you hear this as soon as possible[.]
I am Dear Sir | Very Truly Yours | M. Faraday
