Faraday to Henry William Pickersgill   26 March 1834

Royal Institution | 26, Mar 1834

My dear Sir

This afternoon the beautiful painting of Sir H. Davy1 by your son2 broke the suspension cord & fell down by which accident the frame is sadly fractured and far worse a large rent made in the picture. The rent is by the side of the head but not in it[.]

You only could advise me what to do and I am going out of town early tomorrow morning. But I thought I might ask you to direct your picture frame maker to send for it that he might repair the frame and that the picture might also be repaired in any manner you might think fit. It may either remain till I return to town or if you would condescend to give directions about it, it would very much oblige

Yours Most faithfully | M. Faraday
