Panshanger | January 2, 1836
Sir
I have again to express my satisfaction that the matter of the pension terminated in so amicable a manner, & I beg to return you my thanks for your willingness expressed through Dr Holland to contradict any injurious statements in the public prints. The best course was followed which was to terminate the discussion as soon as possible.
I will give directions to have every thing that is possible done at the customs about your box from Berlin & as speedily as possible1.
Believe me yours faithfully | Melbourne
