John Henry Pelly to Faraday   2 February 1836

My Dear Sir

We have a Court at the Trinity House only once a Month (the first Thursday) and no resolution is considered conclusive till confirmed at the following court[.] Referring to the conversation I had with you last Thursday1 will you allow me to submit to the court to be held on the 4 Inst the following proposition[.]

"That Mich Faraday Esq be appointed Chemical &c &c &c &c2 adviser to the Corporation of the Trinity House at a salary of ú2003 a year"[.] You were pleased to say you would feel such an appointment a very Honorable one & I should feel much gratified in having so able an adviser[.] I have left part in pencil to be altered as you may deem fit & believe me
