William Snow Harris to Faraday   3 March 1838

Old Hummums Hotel Covent Garden | March 3 1838

My Dear Faraday

A vast many of my Naval & Mercantile friends with others anxious about shipping, feel strongly upon the subject of the Lighting Conductors - and think it is not quite fairly dealt with by The Government. One of them has spoken to Mr Spring Rice on the subject, who has very kindly consented to see me on Monday next1 at 11 of clk. I am informed that if you would be so good as to write a few lines briefly stating what you know about me & the Conductors - it would materially promote the object of my Interview2. I do not however wish you to interest yourself further, than you think you could do consistently with your own private feelings - so that if you decline saying any thing about the matter you will assure you still have, as you always will have my warmest regards[.]

Faithfully & truly your sincere friend | W Snow Harris

Should you choose to write to The Chancellor Pray seal it and I will take charge of it | WSH
