Faraday to Edward Hawkins   11 May 18391

R Institution | 11 May 1839

My dear Sir

As you did not answer my card I proceeded without you & now return the coin[.]

I could have carried the operation further but thought you had better see it now[.]

I have not corroded the coin but the [word illegible] substance has & that effect now shows itself. Let me know under what circumstances it was found[.]

Ever faithfully Yours | M. Faraday

Edwd. Hawkins Esq | &c &c &c

Dated on the basis that Daniell (1839b) was received by the Royal Society that day.
