I am somewhat surprised to find that my name has had the honor of being placed on the Free list of Covent Garden Theatre2 this season being quite unacquainted with any circumstance which renders me deserving of that favour[.] May I however beg you will do me the further kindness of offering my sincere thanks to Mr & Mrs Charles Matthews3 for the obligation they have been pleased to put me under[.]
