Faraday to Thomas Phillipps   13 August 1839

R Institution | 13 Aug 1839

My Dear Sir Thomas

The changed lead was principally in the state of carbonate & not of muriate as I partly expected[.] This is not uncommon and is in some degree like the alteration which occurs when lead is exposed to air moisture & the vapours of acetic acid, a carbonate then results1[.]

Ever Dear Sir | Your faithful Servant | M. Faraday

Sir T. Phillip[p]s Bart | &c &c &c
