Sarah Faraday to an unidentified correspondent   5 September 1843

Royal Institution | Sepr 5, 43

My dear Sir

I ought to have thanked you before this for my Fathers1 portrait, but you know it takes some time to reconcile oneself to the desperate gravity they sometimes assume. This is almost painfully expressed in my Fathers case, but after looking at it again and again I find it so beautifully true that I would not change it for any painting and am much indebted to you for the trouble you have taken[.]

Yours very truly | S. Faraday

Edward Barnard.
