My dear Sir

We have completed our electric communications, and they appear to answer well. On any starlight evening we have abundance of sparks, and of course powerful indications with the dry pile apparatus &c.

If now you can assist us in the matter of self-registration¹, you will do us (and the science too, I hope) real service.
