Water & other batteries

I have read the enclosed paper1[.] My memory does not serve me well enough to say whether the first half of it is matter which has not before been published sufficiently - and perhaps that might be shortened especially from 18 to 222 but as I said my failing memory disables me from judging and some other persons judgment must be asked[.] Without pledging myself to the rest of the matter I still must say I should like to see it in print & I think it would meet difficulties in the minds of many persons which do not exist in my own[.] MF

March 23, 1844.

Gassiot (1844).
Of the RS MS PT 28.2 which corresponds to Gassiot (1844), 49-50. There was no shortening.
