My dear Faraday

I have engaged you quiet rooms for Mrs F. & you quite close to my tower 2 & you shall have terms &c by & bye. When will you arrive?3 Of course by Wednesday 25th at latest. But I must earnestly beg you to come by Tuesday night 24th. You will be here at 7 1/2 & have your tea with me at 8.

Drive in a cab from the station to my house as above.

John Phillips (1800-1874, DSB). One of the founders of the British Association and its Assistant General Secretary until 1859.
So called by Phillips because he had renovated his home, St Mary's Lodge, formerly a gatehouse, to look like a tower. Private communication from Jack Morrell.
