Faraday to Jane Marcet   27 November 1845

Brighton | 27 Novr 1845

My dear Mrs. Marcet

I have not had time to see the Athenaeum account1 and do not know whether it is quite correct[.] I cannot go so far as to say that I have identified light & magnetism but I have acted on light by magnetism & electricity through the agency of transparent bodies of a certain class. I am working very hard at another discovery & have scarcely a moment to take from it so I have engaged a friend to copy a short description I had to send to another friend & hope you will excuse my sending it to you. But [it] is absolutely necessary that I should economize both time & labour & also head (for it aches) just now[.] As this is Thursday evening I think I had better write to Stratton Street or the letter may miss you[.] If it did it would be of no great consequence except as a mark of my deep respect for otherwise it is not worth much[.]

Ever | My dear Lady | Your faithful servant | M. Faraday
