Faraday to John Frederick William Herschel   17 March 1846

R Institution | 17 Mar 1846

My dear Sir John

The quantity of heavy glass which I have enables me to offer a few specimens to others and I am anxious to place one in your hands hoping you will accept it & believing that it would then run the greatest chance of being useful either in your own hands or in those of the parties to whom you might like to lend or give it1[.]

Ever My dear Sir | Yours Most Truly | M. Faraday

Sir John F.W. Herschell Bart | &c &c &c

This piece of glass is now in the possession of Queen Anne's School, Caversham. I am indebted to Dr Muriel Hall for drawing this to my attention.
