Faraday to Dick1   17 November 1846

R Institution | 17 Novr. 1846

Sir

I am very much obliged by your kindness. I know of the Electrical property & have often shewn it & have had cotton prepared that will preserve its [word illegible] state for hours. You will find that if the prepared cotton is soaked for 24 hours in plenty of distilled water then taken out pressed & dried its electric powers rise very much. A piece of such cotton being warmed to dry it & then brushed lightly over with the hand will afterwards cling to the hand & not fall from it because of its strong electrical State[.]

I am Sir | Your Obedient Servant | M. Faraday

Mr Dick
