I enclose a Memorandum1 descriptive of a small Instrument (also sent herewith) which has been submitted as effecting an improvement of the Argand Lamp, and for reception of which the Lamp for burning rape seed Oil now under trial by you2, has been prepared: and I am directed to request you will make observations on the effect and qualities of this Instrument and take separate notice of the same for the Board's information in your report on the Lamp.
