I have this day written to Messrs Brown of Preston1 and as the best mode of making my report to you and informing you what I have done send you a copy of the letter below2.

This letter and letter 2038 were read to the Trinity House By Board (Minutes, 21 December 1847, GL MS 30010/35, pp.495-6). It was agreed not to proceed further with the proposal made by the Browns, but they were paid £20 for their costs.
