I have the honor to inform you that at a Meeting held on the 28th day of December 1847 you were elected a Correspondent of the Academy.

Permit me, sir, in making this announcement, to add the hope that you will accept this token of the respect and confidence of our Institution, and will allow the Society to avail itself of your valuable co-operation in promoting the discovery and dissemination of new and important truths in any department of Natural Science to which you may be devoted.
