Edward Joseph Hill Jekyll1 to John Barlow and John Barlow to Faraday   1 October 18482

Bramley House | Guildford | Oct 1st

My dear Mr Barlow

Ld Bury3 has just bought my house No 2 Grafton Street, in it, are 2 fine casts on antique pedestals, one of the dying Gladiator & the other Mars in repose, a sitting figure of which but few casts exist. If the Royal Institution would honor me by their acceptance of the above I should be too happy to offer them. It would be but a very few yards to remove them & they are now in perfect condition.

Yours sincerely | E. Jekyll

Thinking it possible you may be out of town I have taken the liberty of addressing this to yourself or Mr Faraday at the Royal Institution.

My dear Faraday

Will you kindly deal with this proposal.

Ever Your | J.B.
