Faraday to Marshall Hall1   23 January 1849

Royal Institution | 23 Jany 1849

My dear Sir

I regret (only for your sake) that I cannot go to Mr. Solomons2 conversazione. I eschew all these things disliking to the utmost these forms of Society. My friends know my rule and very kindly submit, but if I were to go to one I must also go, not to a dozen, but to hundreds or give offence to many whom I esteem most highly. I hope therefore you will hold me excused[.]

Ever Very Truly Yours | M. Faraday

Dr. Marshall Hall | &c &c &c
