Faraday to Henry Deacon   7 March 1850

My dear Sir,

I have just put up your name as a Candidate at the Chemical Society. When you are elected the Secretary Mr. Warrington1 will write to you. He spoke to me of a kind of ornamental glass having the appearance of red porphyry of Jasper containing crystallized Protoxide of copper in a colourless glass. I told him I was sure you would be glad to have any enquiries made of you and would be not merely a nominal but a bonafide member of the Society.

Ever Very Truly Yours, | M. Faraday

Robert Warington (1807-1867, DNB). Chemist to the Society of Apothecaries, 1842-1867, and Secretary of the Chemical Society, 1841-1851.
