I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and beg to thank you for the confidence & trust which you are pleased to place in me. I can only say in reply that my health & my duty will not allow me to accept the post you offer me and that I now lecture no where out of the Walls of the Royal Institution except at the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich[.]
