L’Accademia nella tornata del 17 novembre andante nominò Va Sa Chiarissima uno di suoi corrispondenti esteri.

Perciò col presente riceverà Ella il relativo diploma, unito ad una copia dello statuto che il sommo Pontefice Pio IX² assegnò all’accademia quando volle ridurla di governativa istituzione.

Voglia pertanto Ella gradire questa nomina, dovuta unicamente al suo merito scientifico, e favorire l’accademia nostra coi suoi lumi, e con qualche suo scritto, che riguardato sempre qual dono preziosissimo, sarà tosto pubblicato negli atti della medesima.

Fra tanto rallegrandomi sinceramente con Lei ho l’onore sommo di assegniarla, e di profferirmi coi sentimenti della maggiore stima

At its meeting on 17 November last, the Accademia nominated You as one of its foreign correspondents.

With this letter, therefore, you will receive the relevant certificate, along with a copy of the Statute that the Sovereign Pontiff Pius IX³ assigned to the Accademia when he wished to change it from a government institution.

Please accept this nomination, due uniquely to your scientific merit, and favour our Accademia with your learning and with some of your writing, which will always be regarded as a most precious gift, and will be published at the earliest opportunity in the proceedings of the same.
