William Pole to Faraday   17 November 18521

28 Cambridge Square | Hyde Park

My dear Faraday

Very many thanks for your very kind offer of the St Pauls Ticket2 but strictly “I am married & therefore I cannot come”3. The truth is that I was married this very day & I didn’t wish “the marriage feast to furnish forth the cold funeral meats”4. It has given me however an opportunity of offering the ticket to a Revd divine5 who has come all the way from Yorkshire to tie the knot.

Yours very sincerely | Wm Pole

Dated on the basis of Pole’s marriage. GRO.
