George Biddell Airy to Faraday   25 October 1853

Royal Observatory | Greenwich | 1853 October 25

My dear Sir

You know that in all matters magnetical, meteorological, and chemical, I consider myself & Co. here as mere machines, fit to act up to other people’s ideas, but having no ideas of our own.

In this consideration I take leave to ask you -

What is the value of Schönbein’s Ozonometer?

Is it worth while for us to observe with it here?

If you say that it is, I shall put it in hand for daily observation and registry.

I am, my dear Sir, | Yours very truly | G.B. Airy

Professor Faraday
