en Venant à Londres je me faisais une fête de Vous voir et de Vous présenter mes humbles hommages. Venu dès le premier jour à l’institution royale j’ai appris avec une très grande douleur que la mauvaise Santé de Mme Faraday vous avait forcé de partir pour l’isle de Wight. Cà été pour moi et pour mon compagnon de voyage, Mr Duboscq3, qui aurait fait avec tant de bonheur Devant Vous Ses grandes expériences d’optique avec la lumière électrique4, un désappointement cruel.

Si par hazard Vous veniez à Londres dans le courant de cette Semaine, soyez assez bon, je vous en conjure pour nous prevenir de l’ heure à la quelle nous pourrons vous remontrer. M. Duboscq donne une nouvelle Séance à polytechnique institution Vendredi5 prochain à 7 heures du soir, devant un grand monde de Savans de Londres.

Je suis dans les Sentimens respectueses de la consideration la plus distinguée et dans l’espoir du prochain rétablissement de la Santé de Mme Faraday

In coming to London, I was hoping to give myself the pleasure of seeing you and of presenting to you my humble homage. Having come on the first day to the Royal Institution, I learned with great sadness that Mrs Faraday’s poor health had forced you to leave for the Isle of Wight. This was for me and for my travelling companion, Mr Duboscq6, who was hoping so much to have the pleasure of demonstrating to you his optical experiments with electric light7, a cruel disappointment.

If by any chance you come to London in the course of this week, please be so good, I beg you, to let us know of a time when we can meet you. Mr Duboscq is giving a new lecture at the polytechnic institution next Friday8 at 7 o’clock in the evening, before a large number of London savants.

I remain in the respectful sentiments of the most distinguished consideration and in the hope of the speedy recovery of the health of Mrs Faraday
