Faraday to Lyon Playfair   20 July 1855

20 July 1855

My dear Playfair

I should like much to see Glasgow this summer1 - for I have many friends there - but I cannot tell as yet - though I fear it will not be. I am amused at one of your temptations the moderately clean river, for though it is so above bridge yet when I was there last2 nothing could be worse than its state at the Broomielaw, amongst the boats. I should be very glad to think that that had been altered[.]
