Roderick Impey Murchison to Faraday   6 December 1855

Up Park | Decr 6 | 1855

Dear Faraday

I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 4th Dec1 which is so very satisfactory that I have enclosed it to Sir H. Ellis2 to be be [sic] laid before the Trustees on Saturday next3, when I am sure they will unite with me in returning to yourself & Dr. Arnott4 our grateful thanks.

Dr Percy has written to me about some diagrams for your lectures5 & I have replied in the affirmative, provided I have the power, & if not I will obtain the permission of a board & for the purpose, as I should consider it a disgrace to myself if our Institute6 did not do every thing in our power to enable you to enlighten the rising generation[.]

Yours most sincerely | Roderick Murchison

I hope to be in Town tomorrow night
