My dear Sir

I do not see that I can change a single word of my former letter (6 July 1855)1. Mr. Joules2 paper3 is intended for the use of the mathematicians and is one that I cannot pretend to judge on its merits. The merits of the philosopher I know very well but you know them as well as I do
