Thomas Henry Huxley to Faraday   2 May 1856

Jermyn St May 2nd | 1856

My dear Mr. Faraday

It is very difficult for me to estimate with any degree of exactness the possible cost of such a Collection as that which I propose1. I think, however I am speaking well within bounds in taking £100. 0. 0 as the extreme outside expenditure which would be necessary[.]

As I purpose to select a purely physiological subject for my next Years course - reserving pure Natural History as a “bonne bouche” for the last - one can take one’s time about the collection and it would perhaps be the best way to vote 50. 0. 0 for this years expenditure & see how far it will go -

Ever yours very truly | T.H. Huxley
