inform you that they have two Lighthouses now in course of erection in the Colonies and it appears to my Lords very desirable to have on the spot some means of distilling or procuring from the Water of the Sea pure Water for drinking and domestic purposes. My Lords desire me to request therefore to know whether you can inform them which of the Inventions for effecting this object is in your opinion the best and whether you are able to give them any information upon the Capabilities of the Marine Arated Fresh Water Apparatus patented by Dr. A. Normandy1 and referred to in the inclosed Copy of his letter to this Department.
