My dear Sir

I have just had the pleasure of making out & signing your certificate: it will quickly have the other signatures necessary: and whenever you come to town you will have the right (by courtesy) to use the Institution as a Member even though the day of Election may not have arrived2. I send also by this post certain printed papers which will explain themselves. I am glad you have thought of us we like the name of Vivian amongst our Members & I am also glad to hear of the progress of the hygrometer[.]
