Faraday to Isambard Kingdom Brunel   25 June 1857

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 25 June 1857.

My dear Brunel

I (and my nephew Mr Buchanan) went this morning to the Great ship works1 but all in vain. Fate in the form of a Porter was inexorable and there was no one in a higher rank to appeal to.- so we came back - as we went - We should have gone at 1 o’clk but your letter2 advised us not to go at that hour - Do I understand that you are there on Saturdays between 4 and 6 o’clk & that you would like to have me there at such a time? If so would Saturday Week the 4th of July do - and if so again may I bring my nephew with me or leave him at home?

Ever Truly Yours | M. Faraday
