To my old & much esteemed friend Ml. Faraday D.C.L. FRS. | &c &c &c

I address this Letter to you as the Head of the Royal Institution of Gt. Britain for the purpose of enabling the Managers in case of any thing happening to me before the return of the Pictures from the Exhibition at the Royal Academy to claim as their Property my Picture of the Revd. John Barlow2 which I hope they will accept as a slight testimony in consideration for the great priviledge [sic] I have long enjoyed through their liberality3.
