Faraday to Juliet Pollock   18 December 1858

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | Albemarle St W. | 18 Decr. 1858

My dear Mrs. Pollock

I have received your gift - mean to play with it often - & always think of you. I have not had time yet to try its powers but it will mingle in very well with the Juvenile Lectures. I am only sorry I cannot find something about it that would enable me to quote it in illustration of Metalline qualities1.

Ever Your | Very Grateful Servant | M. Faraday

A reference to Faraday’s 1858/9 Christmas lectures on “Metals” which he began later in the month. His notes are in RI MS F4 G61.
