The Green | Hampton Court | 13 July 1860
My dear Miss Coutts
Knowing that you know our habits of life perfectly, I take it as a great complement that you would like to see us here;- and how we live;- and how kindly the Queen has treated us;- and we shall be very happy to see Lord Stratford de Redcliffe1, or any other friend of yours whom you may think fit to bring to us:- only explain before hand what barbarians we are. I do not know what are the established hours to which you of course must conform and to which I shall be very happy to conform too – but, as Mrs Barlow instructs as much, I venture to say that we shall be here all next Monday and Tuesday2[.]
