I beg to transmit herewith, for your information, Copy of a Letter addressed to Messrs. Chance Brothers, in relation to Experiments at Whitby1, and I am desired by the Elder Brethren to request you will furnish me with an approximate estimate of the probable expenses that may be incurred by you in carrying out your investigations as to the most advantageous positions of the Foci of the Dioptric Apparatus.
